Shipping Information
We work hard to ensure your order is delivered swiftly and safely. Each item is packed with care and delicacy.
General Information
- Our Shipping and Receiving department is open from Monday to Friday, and closed on weekends and holidays.
- Small goods (shoulder rests, strings, sheet music, etc.) ship via USPS.
- Large goods (folding music stands, chairs, cases) and Instruments (sales, trials, rentals) ship via FedEx* Ground.
- Next Day and Second Day Air are offered via FedEx.
- Weekend delivery is not offered.
- To provide the best shipping costs for our customers, we reserve the right to select the shipping method.
FedEx requires a valid street address and cannot be delivered to a post office box.
Instrument: Sales, Trials, & Rentals
Before shipping, each instrument is personally inspected and played by specialists to ensure that both the player and the instrument can perform at their best. Foam inserts support the bridge and tailpiece while bubble-wrap and packing peanuts cushion the case and keep the instrument secure in transit.
Instruments may require three to five business days to prepare before shipping. When possible, we do our best to ship them out sooner. Acoustic basses are only available for in-store pick-up or school rental delivery programs.

Order Processing
- If an order* is placed before 1PM EST Monday to Friday, it will be shipped out the same day.
- All other orders will be shipped out the next business day.
- Upon leaving our warehouse, you will receive an email confirmation with tracking information.
- An order for small goods may take up to seven business days to arrive. Large items will take two to five days to arrive.

Expedited Shipping
We offer expedited shipping via FedEx Second- or Next-day air. An expedited order placed before the cutoff on Friday will ship that day, and arrive the following Tuesday (second-day), or Monday (next-day). Expedited shipping options are valid only for in-stock items being shipped within the USA*.
Customers in Alaska or Hawaii must request expedited shipping quotes at checkout.
International Customers
Customers with orders shipping outside the contiguous USA will be emailed a shipping quote within 1 business day.
Please note that duties and taxes can and will be applied to the order upon its arrival to the country of destination.
These additional charges are the sole responsibility of the customer. Johnson String Instrument and your country's customs department reserve the right to abandon any shipment for which the required payments are not supplied, and no refund will be given for the original cost of the order.

HI, AK, PR, and Military Base Customers
While these states and territories are part of the United States, orders are transported overseas and/or to US military bases. Because of this process, customers will be emailed a shipping quote within 1 business day.
Customers in Puerto Rico
Please note that duties and taxes can and will be applied to the order upon its arrival to the destination. These additional charges are the sole responsibility of the customer.

Out of Stock
If your order is shipping outside the contiguous United States and has an out of stock item, the entire order will be held until everything is available, to ship out in one package.
If an item is out of stock, it can be placed on backorder. Once the item is in stock, it will ship out. Payment for items takes place once the item ships. Out of stock items on orders within the contiguous United States are automatically back ordered. We send all available items in one shipment, then ship the missing items when they are back in stock. Back ordered items can be canceled any time between the back order being placed and the item shipping out. No additional shipping charge is applied.
