Digital Marketing Specialist

Reports to: Marketing Manager
Location: JSI Offices, Waltham
Salary Range: $25/hr - $30/hr

Job Description:

The Digital Marketing Specialist’s role is to aid in the support and execution of marketing programs to aid in the expansion and growth of the services and products at Johnson String Instrument/Carriage House Violins (JSI/CHV). Proficiency in social media, web advertising, reporting, and analytics is a must.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Planning, development, and execution of digital programs and campaigns, including online advertising, website strategy and design, mobile, and related deliverables
  • Implement branded email marketing campaigns leveraging A/B testing and report on the effectiveness
  • Planning, development, and execution of all social media messaging on all JSI platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, LinkedIn, and TikTok
  • Collaborate with in-house teams
  • Management of digital touchpoints, including www.johnsonstring.com, carriagehouseviolins.com, social networking landing pages, etc.
  • Provide guidance on types of content that will reach and resonate with various customer segments.
  • Stay on top and review new technology trends ensuring Johnson String remains a digital marketing leader within the string music retail space

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in a marketing/graphics/communications-related field
  • Three-to-five years of experience in digital marketing within retail or education sectors
  • Solid understanding of CPC, ROAS, CPA, and other analytics assessing digital marketing efforts
  • Basic understanding and experience with multi variant testing in a digital environment
  • Track conversions and report on what worked and what didn’t
  • Creating KPI, performance, and executive dashboards for assessing digital campaigns
  • Deep understanding of digital marketing and digital production
  • Proven experience delivering a variety of digital assets, including rich media online ads, microsites, email campaigns, PPC, SEO, and social media applications
  • Creating email marketing campaigns to promote products or services ensuring marketing message is conveyed clearly and delivered properly to prospects. Familiarity with iPost is a plus
  • Experience managing successful social media campaigns, and a solid understanding of social marketing
  • Strong management skills, excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of music retail, classical music or music education strongly preferred. Experience playing a stringed instrument is a plus

Luthier – Carriage House Violins

Department: CHV Newton
Reports to: CHV Workshop Manager
Salary Range: $26/hr - 33/hr

Key Responsibilities:

  • Repair, restore, and set up instruments at the direction of the Workshop Manager
  • Interface with the Sales, Customer Service, and Acquisition teams, answer questions, and perform estimates
  • Assist in the day-to-day operation of the workshop including drafting paperwork, invoicing, cleaning, and organizing

Qualifications:

  • Previous training and a minimum of 3 years of professional experience in the restoration, repair, and setup of violins, violas, and cellos 
  • Degree, diploma, or certificate from a violin making school or completion of an apprenticeship preferred
  • Tools including but not limited to knives, planes, chisels, and gouges can be sharpened and manipulated at a professional level of performance
  • Outstanding time management and organization skills
  • Comfort with technology and the ability to use it consistently to record the work you perform
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multitask effectively in a quick-paced environment
  • Proven ability to work independently and in a team environment and collaborate with others

This is a full-time, hourly position: 40hrs/wk., $26-33/hr. commensurate with experience. A relocation stipend is available for those moving from out of state.

Rental Workshop Luthier

Our company is a family owned business dedicated to the rental and sales of high quality string instruments. In operation for over forty years, we take great pride in our precision rental set-ups. Our staff is hard working, team-oriented, and very friendly. Come join our team!

Job Description:

We are currently looking for a full time luthier to assist with the maintenance of our rental instrument inventory. This includes set up and repair of all rental violins, violas and cellos.

Qualifications:

Repair, set-up or making experience with bowed string instruments strongly preferred; other job experience requiring woodworking skills or fine detail orientation may be considered. Quick and accurate work is expected, as we are a high-volume shop with high standards. Tremendous attention to detail and ability to focus amidst a busy shop are essential!

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Able to perform repetitive motions with hands, wrists, and arms
  • Able to perform fine detail work
  • Able to sit for most of the day, but stand for periods of time
  • Able to carry multiple instruments at a time, and able to lift and/or move items over 25 pounds
  • Able to climb stairs, ladders, step stools with instruments in hand
  • Able to lift a violin or cello with clamps, possibly over head
  • Able to work with machines (bandsaws, sanders, grinders) and sharp tools

40 hrs/wk., Monday-Friday, daytime.

Starting rate is $20/hour, with potential for growth within the department and the company.

Retail Sales Associate

Our storefront is a vibrant place where we assist string players of all levels, from beginners to professionals. Our team is comprised of musicians who enjoy working together and helping people on their musical journeys.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with registration for rental instruments, including instrument fitting and selection
  • Retail sales of accessories, sheet music, and student instruments; making product recommendations, giving knowledgeable answers to customer inquiries
  • Processing POS transactions using a cash register and software designed for Johnson String Instrument
  • Merchandising, creating product displays, and overall maintenance of the storefront
  • Participate in ongoing training regarding products and policies
  • Assist with special projects and perform other related duties as directed or required

Full-time: 40hrs/wk, Saturdays required. Applicants should be prepared to have availability for all business hours.

Part-time: Less than 40hrs/wk, Saturdays required. Applicants should be prepared to have availability for all business hours.

Applicants must have availability during our busiest seasons: September, June, and mid-November through January 2nd.

Qualifications:

  • Plays a string instrument (violin, viola, cello, and/or double bass)
