Salut d'Amour, for violin and piano (urtext); Edward Elgar (C. F. Peters)

Edward Elgar's (1857-1934) Salut d'Amour for violin and piano (1888) exemplifies his work in modest, light chamber works, with beautiful lyricism and attentive and idiomatic writing for the violin (the composer was an excellent violinist). This urtext edition by Donald Burrows contains two published versions, one from Schott and one from Novello, which offer substantially different interpretations of the piece with contrasting fingerings and bowings. It is an ideal edition for students to work their way toward higher position work and portamento shifting.
