Four Pieces for Viola and Piano by Frank Bridge

Published by Faber

Frank Bridge (1879-1941) was a notable English composer and violist. His early works from the Edwardian period are lyrical and melodic, with touches of impressionism. After the First World War, his language became more modernist and complex. He was also a notable teacher, whose most famous student was Benjamin Britten.

Bridge wrote many excellent chamber works for strings; his earlier works in this genre rank as some of the most warm and charming of the time. These four romantic and tuneful salon pieces were composed between 1901 and 1910 for violin or cello. As a fine viola player, Bridge might have welcomed these transcriptions for viola and piano, published here for the first time. Ranges from intermediate to intermediate-advanced level in difficulty, Grades 3-4.
