Urtext. Edited by Kenneth Martinson. Format: 2 Playing Scores.
While York Bowen (1884-1961) was compositionally most devoted to writing music for the piano, the viola remained his favorite non-keyboard instrument to write for. While at the Royal Academy of Music, Bowen formed a viola-piano duo with his colleague, Lionel Tertis. All of his works with viola were written for and performed by Tertis. Though he helped to popularize the viola as a solo instrument, and his works are celebrated by violists around the world, much of his work remains unpublished
