Our workshop operates by appointment for all instrument and bow repair and restoration, and availability is limited. Because each player and instrument is unique, we prefer to have a conversation with you to discuss your individual needs and answer any questions you may have. We invite you to call us at 617-262-0051 (ext. 655) or email info@carriagehouseviolins.com to discuss scheduling an appointment.
As a comprehensive string shop, Carriage House Violins offers a wide range of services to our clients through every step of the instrument selection process.
At the first performances of this sonata, composed between 1920 and 1922, even close friends of the composer were perturbed: Following the intoxicating sounds of La Valse, the smaller scoring and modern musical language of the sonata were a shock. Yet this stunning work has now become a permanent fixture on the concert stage. To help the players, we are now presenting two performance scores in which the other instrument's part is also given. Both parts are included in a marked and an unmarked version. The world-renowned musicians Heinrich Schiff and Frank Peter Zimmermann provided the fingerings.
