String Quintets, Volume 3 (parts) by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

Urtext edition by Ernst Herttrich and Wolf-Dieter Seiffert. Published by Henle

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791) was one of the most prominent composers of the Classical period and is often considered one of the greatest composers of Western art music. A noted child prodigy, he excelled in all genres. His music is revered for its beauty, clarity, balance, and transparency, underpinned by sophisticated craftsmanship.

The classical string quintet-sometimes called a viola quintet, on account of its second viola-- was more or less invented by Michael Haydn, but Mozart fully realized its potential with several works in the genre, spanning from his teenage years to his late period of compositional maturity. They rank as his crowning achievement in chamber music with their invention, classical beauty, richness, and depth. This Henle edition--volume three of three--contains his two most significant entries in the genre. Scored for two violins, two violas, and cello. Parts only. Advanced level, Grade 5.
