Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791) was one of the most prominent composers of the Classical period and is often considered one of the greatest composers of Western art music. Mozart's attention to detail must be noted: he wrote the viola part in scordatura tuning to give a more brilliant sound to match the violin, though today it is less often performed with this stipulation.
