William Walker violin, Mid Calder 1906
Catalog ID:
A-VN/2719
Scottish violin maker William Walker was born in 1859 and lived and worked throughout the 1920s in Mid Calder and Broxburn, Scotland. Though practically self-taught, Walker's craftsmanship of his Stradivari and Guarneri model violins are first-rate. This violin is beautifully made, with a finely carved scroll and f-holes, a one-piece prominently flamed maple back, and a warm golden-brown varnish. The violin is very responsive with a hearty tone that is both sweet and bright, and has particularly excellent projection of its tonal clarity.
Length of back: 354 mm 4/4
