Gaspar Cassado (1897-1966) was a leading virtuoso Spanish cellist and composer of the 20th century. Many of his compositions are showpieces and transcriptions for cello and piano written for his own recitals and tours. "Dance of the Green Devil" (1926) is one of his two most popular encores (along with "Requiebros"), imbued with unbridled energy, sonority, and impressionist color. It is presented here in the composer's own arrangement for violin and piano. Master level, Grade 6.
