Ennio Morricone (1928-2020) was an Italian composer who specialized in writing for film and television. He was one of the most prolific film composers of all time, responsible for iconic film scores such as ''The Good, the Bad and the Ugly'', ''Once Upon a Time in the West'', and ''Cinema Paradiso''.
Morricone's score for the religious film ''The Mission'' (1986) contains some of the most beautiful music of his career, of which the centerpiece is undoubtedly ''Gabriel's Oboe''.
