Irish Melody "Londonderry Air" (Emer's Farewell to Cucullain) Urtext. Edited by Kenneth Martinson and Christopher Johnson. Format: 2 Playing Scores.

Rebecca Clarke (1886-1979) wrote her viola-cello duets, Irish Melody included, in 1918, during her first professional visit to the United States as a touring violist/cellist duo with May Mukle. They first performed Irish Melody as part of concerts in their New England-area tour.

Irish Melody is an advanced, colorful arrangement of the tune familiar to most of us as "Londonderry Air" or "Danny Boy," but named here as "Emer's Farewell to Cucullain," as it is named in her teacher Charles Villiers Stanford's "Songs of Old Ireland".
