42 Studies for Violin by Rodolphe Kreutzer

Edited by Ivan Galamian. Published by International

Rodolphe Kreutzer (1766-1831) was a French-German violinist and composer, one of the outstanding virtuosos and pedagogues of his day. He was, along with Pierre Rode and Pierre Baillot, one of the first professors of violin at the Conservatoire de Paris. He was also the dedicatee of Beethoven's ''Kreutzer'' Sonata (No.9, Op.47).

Kreutzer's ''42 Studies'' for the violin were written to develop fluency in left hand shifting and extension, as well as to demonstrate and train the student in the possibliities of the Tourte bow, which has since become the standard bow for violinists. This progressive collection is today one of the most practiced and indispensible sets of etudes for intermediate to advanced violinists and violists. This dependable edition from International Music Company is edited by eminent violinist Ivan Galamian.
