Maddalena Lombardini Sirmen (1745-1818), born in Venice, Italy, studied violin with Giuseppe Tartini and built a thriving career as a touring performer, traveling to London, Paris, and St. Petersburg. She later became an opera singer. There are twenty-six known compositions by Lombardini Sirmen including violin concertos, quartets, trios, and duos, all of which were widely published in her lifetime. They embody the simplicity and charm of the early classical style.
