Julia Sarano violin, London 2019
Julia Sarano is a London-based violin maker. Originally from Argentina, she trained as a dancer and theatre performer in Europe, working in these domains for over a decade. Fascinated by the interplay of art and craft, she naturally transitioned into instrument-making, which encompasses both. After initial training in Italy and an apprenticeship in France, she honed her skills at the Newark School of Violin Making. She is a frequent participant in the Oberlin Violin Maker's Workshop, where the craft is constantly being pushed to new levels. She is one of the contemporary W. & E. Hill & Sons violin makers and a founder of The Open String Foundation, which supports free music education programs for children living in underserved communities across the world. She currently shares a studio with Stefan- Peter Greiner and Robert Brewer Young in Hampstead, London.
