Since 2008, John Dailey has been the head of the restoration department at Carriage House Violins. He also maintains a career as a violin maker, building models based on Italian masters. John attended the Violin Making School of America in Salt Lake City from 1999 to 2003 where he studied violin making and its history, music theory, art, and technical drawing. He has worked with various luthiers, including John Young and Ryan Soltis.

A constant innovator, John actively researches current technologies and how they can be applied to the craft of making and restoring instruments. In 2012, he gave a presentation at the Violin Society of America convention demonstrating how modern tools can be added to the techniques utilized by luthiers to maintain and enhance the structural integrity, authenticity, and performance qualities of the instruments with which we are entrusted.
