Son of François Peccatte and nephew of Dominique Peccatte, Charles Peccatte (1850-1918) is among the most influential French bow makers of the 19th century. He was raised and tutored in Paris by bow maker Auguste Lenoble, who had been closely associated with the Peccatte family, and went into business with Lenoble in 1866. Peccatte also worked for Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume and François-Nicolas Voirin before establishing his own business in Paris in the 1880s. Charles Peccatte won several prestigious awards for his bows, which are highly sought-after by professional musicians and collectors.
