Theodore Skreko started violin making at age fourteen after finding his passion for music and art as a child. Skreko worked for two different violin shops in Indianapolis before attending the Violin Making School of America in Salt Lake City. Soon after graduating, Theodore and his classmate, Chris Ulbricht, started Indianapolis Violins in 2003. In 2019 Theodore left Indianapolis Violins to focus solely on violin making.

Theodore's violin making process is strongly influenced by the Italian tradition. He has made several violins modeled after Guarneri del Gesu, Stradivari's "G" form, and his own original and highly successful model. The violas that he makes are inspired by Gasparo da Salò and Andrea Guarneri.

Skreko's instruments have been distinguished by numerous awards for tone received at the International Violin Making competitions held by the Violin Society of America. At the Art of Sound International Competition in 2012, he won a special prize for the "most creative" violin.

Theodore Skreko instruments are highly prized by musicians for their strong and accessible sound, but also the lovely patinated look of an old friend.
