Theodore Skreko's interest in violin making began at the early age of fourteen after he discovered a passion for music and art as a child. Skreko worked for two different violin shops in Indianapolis before attending the Violin Making School of America in Salt Lake City. Soon after graduating, Theodore and his classmate, Chris Ulbricht, founded Indianapolis Violins. In 2019, Theodore left Indianapolis Violins to focus solely on violin making.

Theodore's violin making process is strongly influenced by the great Italian traditions. He makes violins modeled after Guarneri del Gesu and Stradivari's "G" form as well as utilizing his own model. His violas are inspired by Gasparo da Salò and Andrea Guarneri.

Skreko's instruments have received multiple awards at the International Violin Making competitions held by the Violin Society of America including silver medals for tone for viola in 2008 and 2010, certificates for tone for violin in 2004 and 2012, a certificate for tone for viola in 2018, and a certificate of artisanship for viola in 2022. At the Art of Sound International Competition in 2012, he was awarded a special prize for the "most creative" violin.

Theodore Skreko instruments are highly prized by musicians for their strong and accessible sound, but also the lovely, patinated look of an old friend.
